Over these past few weeks, I’ve had Barnacle frequently come up in my personal daily Sea Whisper reading. When I designed the cards, I decided the keyword of barnacle would be attachment. I didn’t know much about these little creatures apart from they cling to rocks and the bottom of boats. Through writing the accompanying guide, I learnt they are only mobile in the larva stage and once they pick their surface, they stick for life. I didn’t immediately relate to the card. I couldn’t see any obvious attachments that I had in life that were weighing me down but the card kept coming up. The Universe was insistent that the card was relevant and I, consciously, was telling it that it wasn’t. Coincidentally, these cards appeared on days when my eyes became very tired as the day progressed. Not the usual tiredness after a long day but a heaviness that made me want to hide away under the duvet and close my eyes to the world.
